Item 5.02

Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers.

On March 22, 2019, Stephen Pakola, M.D. notified Aerpio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (the “Company”) of his intention to resign as Chief Medical Officer of the Company, effective as of April 17, 2019. Dr. Pakola’s resignation did not result from a disagreement with the Company on any matter relating to the Company’s operations, policies or practices.
